Turn That Frown Upside Down!!!

After 7 years of care, nourishment and anticipation one of our apple trees FINALLY started producing. There were apples all over it. I could hardly wait to enjoy those amazing apple pies I was going to bake in the fall. I could just smell the aroma of apples and cinnamon just by thinking about this tree. I love this tree! And will love it's harvest for many years to come.
That was the hope and dream of last summer. We allowed another person to care for the tree. They said they knew how to care for it and would do everything in their power to keep it healthy. Well, life can be crazy and sometimes really busy. We all can relate with that. As a result that person wasn't able to care for the tree as promised. We took back care of our beloved apple tree just in time to watch it struggle and eventually dry up and die.
All those dreams of smelling pies drifting throughout the house were gone!!! I was so distraught about that tree that I vowed to never allow anyone to learn at my expense again!!!
Not a very good attitude I know... Life is learning. Apples aren't extinct. I can grow another one. But those were not the thoughts going through my head as we chopped off the branches and pulled the trunk out of the ground to make room other things.

My husband could see that making dinner was not on my list of things I was looking forward to doing that evening. I was letting everyone know how upset I was about that tree. He asked if he could make dinner and if I didn't mind us cooking outside. I love his grilling. He has an amazing gas grill that with his skill cooks the most amazing dinner.
To my surprise he didn't "fire up the ol' grill." He brought out a hand saw and started cutting. After cutting those branches to the size he wanted he gathered some of them up in an armload and walked over to our outdoor fire pit. started a fire and began grilling.
Apple wood fire, and meat. That's all I'm gonna say. Meat cooked over an apple wood fire...
Sometimes the choices others make can negatively impact us. We may be set back 7 years in our self reliance efforts. We can either pout and complain to everyone around us, or we can make an APPLE WOOD FIRE!
Aren't spouses who can cook amazing? Oh, and if you haven't fire hard boiled eggs you are missing out!
