Simple Bread Recipes

This is a perfect place to start learning how to cook from scratch.  Try these recipes and you will gain the confidence needed to try more.

Simple Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients:

  • 4–5 potatoes

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • ½ cup milk

  • Salt + pepper

Instructions:

  1. Boil potatoes until soft.

  2. Drain, add butter + milk.

  3. Mash and season.

Oatmeal

Ingredients:

1 cup oats

2 cups water or milk

Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Combine in pot.

  2. Simmer 5 minutes.

Homemade Granola

Ingredients:

3 cups oats

¼ cup oil

¼ cup honey

1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Mix everything.

  2. Bake at 300°F for 20–25 minutes.

Pasta Dough (Easy Version)

Ingredients:

2 cups flour

3 eggs

½ tsp salt

Instructions:

Mix flour + salt.

Add eggs; knead 5–8 minutes.

Roll thin and cut.

Homemade Vinaigrette

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup oil

  • 2 tbsp vinegar

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp sugar

Instructions:   Shake or whisk together.

Easy Bean Soup

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans beans (any)

  • 4 cups broth

  • 1 onion (optional)

  • Salt + pepper

Instructions:

  1. Simmer 20–30 minutes.

  2. Mash some beans for thickness.

Italian Seasoning

1 tbsp basil

1 tbsp oregano

1 tsp thyme
Mix and store.

Applesauce

Ingredients:

  • 4 apples (peeled, chopped)

  • ½ cup water

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • Pinch cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Simmer apples 20 minutes. Mash.
