Have you ever had a bad day where things didn't seam to go right? That was today! I was inspecting my plants to find that the summer heat was putting its best foot forward. Many of my plants were suffering. Not from the lack of water... but from the lack of shade. Even my cayenne peppers were showing signs of distress. And that is saying something.

As I went from plant to plant I was worrying and wondering what to do. I had about had it. Was all my hard work from this spring and early summer going to be ruined? How will my veggies survive? The fruit tree leaves were showing signs of sunburn. All except my daughters cherry tree. We still can't figure that one out. The flowers for the bees were wilted and falling, there didn't seam to be any hope. Frustration was welling up in me. Tears were building behind my brave smile.

You see gardening is my thing. I may not be the best at it but I love it. Something about putting a seed in the ground, waiting a few weeks and coming back to see this beautiful green baby plant just poking it's head out of the soil as if testing the world to see if the cost is clear. As I watch it grow all summer I carefully tend to it's needs and keeping the weeds at bay. Then one day there is amazing food that just seams to appear making your mouth water, tempting you to pluck it's delicious goodness and pop it in your mouth. What an amazing cycle of life!

All of those hopes of good food, all of those feelings of accomplishment, all seamed to be crashing down because of the summer rays that make life possible. For a few moments I felt anger and frustration towards those rays of sunshine. And then I found this...

An eggplant never looked so good!

There I was exasperation dripping from my every movement. But when I saw this amazing plant and it's fruit the tears just started to flow. I realized at that minute that life isn't always going to go the way I want it. There is going to be some burned leaves, or flowers eaten by bugs. But the sun will still shine in the morning and the rain will fall again. I need to learn to be happy in the moment. Enjoy the amazing things that grow/live/thrive all around us!
