Easy Stovetop Lasagna
Serves: 4–6
Time: 35 minutes
Ingredients:
-
1 lb ground beef (or Italian sausage, or half of each)
-
1 small onion, diced
-
2–3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 (24 oz) jar pasta sauce (or about 3 cups of your favorite marinara)
-
1 cup water or broth
-
8–10 lasagna noodles, broken into large pieces
-
1 ½ cups ricotta or cottage cheese
-
1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella
-
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
1 tsp Italian seasoning
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
Fresh basil or parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
-
Brown the meat:
In a large, deep skillet or sauté pan, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned (about 6–8 minutes). Drain excess grease. -
Add garlic and sauce:
Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add pasta sauce, water/broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer. -
Add noodles:
Break lasagna noodles into large pieces and stir them into the sauce so they’re mostly submerged. Cover and simmer on medium-low heat for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are tender. Add a splash of water if it gets too thick. -
Add the cheeses:
Drop spoonfuls of ricotta (or cottage cheese) over the top. Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan. Cover again for 5 minutes, until the cheese melts and everything is bubbly. -
Serve:
Sprinkle with fresh basil or parsley if you like. Serve hot and enjoy your easy lasagna!
